IT initiatives

Information Technology is one of the fast growing sectors in Jordan, in particular the software and IT services sector. The development of the IT is at the top of Jordan’s economic agenda. His Majesty King Abdullah II is personally following closely the rapid development in information and communication technologies. As a response to His Majesty’s vision a promising and realistic initiative was set forth; REACH initiative (Regulatory Framework, Estate, Advancement, Programs, Capital, Human Resource Development). The initiative represents a national strategy for Jordan to develop a vibrant, export-oriented information technology services sector. Information Technology of Jordan (INT@J) has been established with the aim of  implementing this strategy.
His Majesty King Abdullah II dedicated his speeches at the Davos World Forum and Jordan’s IT forums to promote the potential of Jordan’s IT industry to foreign investors. His Majesty’s efforts have yielded successful results.
As soon as Jordan became a member at the World Trade Organization (WTO), Jordan started implementing the Information Technology Agreement (ITA) and the graduate tariff reduction (zero binding) to reach the zero tariff rates on all IT products identified by the ITA. Key products related to computers and software sector are exempted from all import tariffs. Investors receive eligibility for exemptions from customs fees and duties on imported fixed assets.
